William Cardinal Allen
Welcome to my page to promote my 12th Great Uncle, William Cardinal Allen.
He was Cardinal during the Great Protestant Revolt and his amazing writings on the Church and the lives of the English Martyrs gave great witness to the Faith and he lived the heroic virtues, one of many steps needed to prove he lived a holy life. Not to mention, he founded the English College in Douai France and gave the English Catholic World, The Douay Rheims Bible. He also founded numerous seminaries to train holy Priests.
It would be and I pray, that he and so many others who defended the Church in the Counter Reformation, that has yet to be recognized by their heroic virtues, will be by the Church and raised to the altars as Canonized Saints.
His numerous writings are still being reprinted, but as they would have been when he wrote them, in the Old English and Traditional Latin Type Printing, which is very difficult to read and the Original Douay Rheims bible is also still in Print but very expensive, I have asked Catholic writers, Publishers and Translators to contact the people who re-print these works to see if they will let them properly translate and re-print them so they are not so expensive and every day Catholics can afford them.
I have one of his larger works Libri Tres, it is on the Sacraments, The Eucharist and the Church, he defends why Protestants and all Heretics, even within the Church cannot receive nor even distribute Holy Communion, it is a very powerful and a must needed book for our day and age with the errant clergy acting as they did during the Protestant Revolt.
